In 1942, Glenn W. King was in his first semester at the University of Wyoming-Laramie when he joined the United States Army Air Forces. He became a bombardier with the 385th Bombardment Group, flying from England s Great Ashfield airbase. On his twenty-third combat mission, Glenn s plane was shot down near Oschatz, Germany.
